Fortinet Discovers Vulnerability in Wireshark


Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs has discovered a denial of service vulnerability in Wireshark.


FortiGuard Labs released the following FortiGate IPS signature which covers this specific vulnerability:

Released Mar 15, 2011
Users should upgrade their Wireshark to the latest version.

Additional Information

Wireshark will crash or consume excessive resources when it parses a pcap/cap file containing malformed LDAP packets or sniffs malformed LDAP packets on a network.
