FortiGuard Advisory (FGA-2006-15)
Bypass Vulnerability in FortiGate FTP Antivirus scanning application Detailed description: In a recent magazine article test review it was discovered that when using Enhanced Passive FTP (EPSV) on a client running SUSE Linux, the FTP anti-virus file scanning would be bypassed. Fortinet's Analysis: There is a bug discovered in the FortiGate FTP proxy when using EPSV. It is possible to break the FTP scanning proxy by enabling EPSV mode. Under these conditions an infected file may be allowed through the AV gateway. A temporary workaround would be to not use EPSV mode in FTP clients. Products affected: All FortiGate models running FTP Anti-Virus gateway scanning service.
