Buffer Overflow Vulnerability in Apple QuickTime Player StripByteCounts Summary: Apple QuickTime has buffer overflow vulnerability in parsing the specially crafted TIFF image files. This is due to application failure to sanitize the parameters StripByteCounts and StripOffsets value while parsing TIFF image files. A remote attacker may send specially crafted TIFF image file to victims system to cause buffer overflow leading to system compromise by execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable system. Impact: Execute arbitrary code Affected Products: Mac OS X v10.3.9 and later, Windows XP/2000 Workaround: Apply patch as given in the Apple advisory http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303101 Acknowledgment: Dejun Meng of Fortinet Security Research team found this vulnerability.
